Strengthen Your Intuition

This is such a juicy topic to jump into, but before we do so we have to mention our herb for this blog post.

Lemon balm also known as “bee balm” is best used for calming anxiety and insomnia. Improves appetite and eases indigestion. Its magical uses are for love drawing, cleansing, success, healing and creativity. It as also said to be an aphrodisiac. Wink* wink*

So next time you are using a love oil for you and your boo. Maybe have a cup of lemon balm tea to spice things up!

What is your intuition? I like to call it your Ori because I am a student of IFá. Your intuition is your instinctive sense of knowing your connection to spirit, however you define it or whatever name you use when you pray.

We all have intuition. I believe it’s like a muscle: it can weaken if you don’t use it, or grow stronger the more you do. In my opinion, it is one of the most important connections we can cultivate.

Because of this, I felt it was important to share how we can connect with and strengthen our relationship with our intuition.

Have you ever been in an uncomfortable situation where your gut told you to leave immediately? That, my friend, was your Ori!

We tend to hear our Ori most clearly in moments when we need saving, especially if we haven’t built a strong relationship with it. While I’m not a true crime fan, I’ve noticed that in stories like those, the victim often says, “Something told me not to trust that person,” or “Something told me not to go through with it” but they didn’t listen.

We’ve all been there dismissing that inner voice because of a lack of self-trust, self-esteem, or awareness. It’s nothing to beat yourself up about, though, because just like a muscle, your Ori can be strengthened with intention and practice.

Now, let’s get to the juicy stuff! As a diviner, I rely on my ori more than the average person. I am in constant communication with the other side, and to do so, I must consistently tap within.

Connecting with the other side can be both emotionally and physically exhausting, so I’ve developed a wellness routine that not only protects my energy but also strengthens my ori.

Meditation

Meditation is a practice where we shift our focus to a calming state of being, relaxing all emotions and silencing our thoughts to stay present in the moment. It’s a practice that takes time to master, and I know the process of silencing one’s thoughts is where many people struggle. Even I found it challenging when I first began meditating.

Now, I do my best to meditate every day because it grounds me. As a diviner, my mind is always moving, often feeling chaotic. Meditation has become the best way for me to quiet the noise in my head and find peace.

Meditation strengthens your intuition because if you know how to navigate the chaos in your head you'll be able to discern your intuition from your ego.

A lot of people get the two confused. Or even their ego and their ancestors to excuse them making poor decisions. But that's a conversation for another day. Your intuition is instinctual and there are no emotions behind. It just is. My intuition sometimes sounds like a soft voice and it makes statements or just states the facts. Whereas your ego has a whole lot of emotion, and bias, and can have a louder voice. And talks too much!

Creativity

Being creative allows me to connect with my inner child. Your inner child is who you truly are, and embracing them allows you to live as your authentic self.

Creativity can also strengthen your intuition because it encourages you to think outside the box. When we’re being creative, we are doing something we genuinely enjoy. Whatever way we choose to channel that creativity, comes from within.

The more we tap into that creative energy, the more we learn to trust ourselves, and over time, we can flow more naturally in our authentic state.

Practice

You can master anything with practice. So, how can you practice using your intuition?

Start by doing the first thing that comes to mind and always follow your gut feeling. When you do this, you’re telling yourself that you trust yourself. After all, you can’t truly trust anyone else if you don’t trust yourself first.

So, here’s a quick exercise: after you’re done reading this, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and ask yourself, What do I want to do in this moment? Then, do it!

Get in the habit of following your first mind and trusting it. That’s the best way to strengthen your relationship with yourself and your intuition!

Rest

This is something I am still working on, but getting proper rest and sleep is essential for improving your intuition. Think about it, how can you make clear decisions with an exhausted body?

Lack of sleep affects your mood, your overall health, and your ability to trust your inner guidance. So, do what you need to do to establish a solid sleep routine. Limit your screen time, unwind before bed, and make rest a priority.

Taking care of your body is one of the best ways to strengthen your connection to yourself and your intuition.

Mindful Consumption

What you feed your mind and body affects not only your intuition but your entire well-being. Pay attention to how much trash TV, violent shows, music about killing, and unhealthy foods you consume.

These things can negatively impact your mood, cloud your thoughts, and even lead to major health problems over time. Nourishing your mind and body with positivity, balance, and intention is key to maintaining a strong connection with your intuition and living in alignment with your best self.

Strengthening your intuition is about living with purpose and trusting your natural flow to guide your life. It is a lifestyle that takes time to develop, so be patient with yourself

Give yourself grace and allow the journey to unfold at its own pace. Trust that with time and practice, your intuition will grow stronger, leading you toward alignment and authenticity.
